About

Well, I’m guessing you can probably guess what this is all about…fishingfiend pretty much gives it away.

I’m a 30 year old guy, who lives on a scottish offshore island. And has rediscovered his passion for sea fishing.

One of my first memories is learning to cast in my grandfathers garden. My dad had bought me a Shakespeare starter kit rod and reel and a nice orange hoola hoop. I can hear you ask what relevance that has to angling. Well it turns out he thought it would make a great target to learn casting with. As it turns out it was a good idea, what wasn’t the best idea was to place it right under a tree.

These days I prefer to catch fish as opposed to hoola hoops or branches.

I LOVE to go fishing. If you believe some people they’d probably say it’s more of an obsession. I’m a bit like the mail (maybe not Royal mail but one that works), as in no matter what the weather, rain, snow or a force 10, I’ll go out and try and tempt a fish.

In the past I’ve been mainly fishing for freshwater fish. But due to a fairly recent relocation, if I want a bit of variety (only brown trout here) I need to go sea fishing. Not a real issue,or so I thought as I have done this in Denmark when I was little. But apparently things have changed slightly since then, not least of all the fish stocks, but I won’t harp on about that.

So now I pretty much need to re-learn the art of sea fishing. So in the coming weeks and months, I shall let you all know how I’m getting on. I will tell you what rigs I’m using, the conditions at the venue, and the influence of the weather conditions.

I would also appreciate any advice, pointers and hints. I am after all trying to learn.

Congratulations on a good blog. Here in Ucleuelet, Vancouver Island, Canada, we also do a lot of fishing. very good to see people sharing their fishing experiences online.

All the best ~ and good luck fishing.

(if you really want that dogfish, we’ve got plenty extra over here too.)

Thanks for your comment Mark. Glad you like my wee blog. Had to have a wee nosey at your website, wish I hadn’t. The picture of that nice looking Halibut gave me pangs of jealousy. And as for dogfish…am still waiting. Think I might live in the wrong country lol.
